Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has continued to suffer massive losses in manpower and equipment, which are recorded and updated daily as of the end of January 2026, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to January 16, 2026, are estimated to be:

  • Personnel - approximately 1,235,880 (+820)
  • Tanks - 11,609 (+1)
  • Troop-carrying AFVs - 23,954 (+3)
  • Artillery systems - 36,691 (+47)
  • MLRS - 1,628 (+2)
  • Anti-aircraft systems - 1,286
  • Aircraft - 434
  • Helicopters - 347
  • UAV operational-tactical level - 116,712 (+899)
  • Cruise missiles - 4,205
  • Warships/boats - 28
  • Submarines - 2
  • Vehicles and fuel tanks - 76,025 (+119)
  • Special equipment - 4,051.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius says that Berlin is unable to transfer additional Patriot systems from its own reserves to Ukraine, as the existing complexes are involved in ensuring national and allied security.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte notes that, as part of a possible peace process in Ukraine, there remains a serious and extremely sensitive territorial issue in relations with Russia, which significantly complicates negotiations and has yet to be resolved.
