Russia's losses in Ukraine as of January 20: +1,690 troops, 153 drones
During the day from January 19 to January 20, the Russian army lost 1,690 soldiers, 19 artillery systems, and 153 drones at the front, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to January 20, 2025, are estimated to be:
- personnel - about 820,430 (+1,690) Russian troops were eliminated;
- tanks - 9,821 (+10) units;
- armored personnel vehicle - 20,454 (+42) units;
- artillery systems - 22,074 (+19) units;
- MLRS - 1,262 units;
- anti-aircraft warfare systems - 1,049 (+3) units;
- aircraft - 369 units;
- helicopters - 331 units;
- UAV operational-tactical level - 22,768 (+153) units;
- cruise missiles - 3,051 units;
- warships/boats - 28 units;
- submarines - 1 unit;
- vehicles and fuel tanks - 34,488 (+87) units;
- special equipment - 3,706 (+6) units.
Situation at front and Russian attacks
According to ISW, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have regained control of the lost positions near Chasiv Yar and Toretsk. However, the Russians are pressing and advancing in many directions at once.
On the evening of January 19, Russian troops attacked the village of Zolochiv near Kharkiv with a guided aerial bomb. A child was injured in the attack.
During the night, Russia attacked Ukraine with Shahed drones. By morning, Ukrainian air defense forces had eliminated all Russian targets.
