Russian losses in the war in Ukraine as of Saturday morning, February 17, amounted to 1,050 occupiers, with the total number of Russian army losses since the start of the invasion totaling 401,350 soldiers. Additionally, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 28 artillery systems and 18 vehicles and fuel tankers, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The overall Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022 to February 17, 2024 are estimated as follows:

  • Personnel: approximately 401,350 (+1,050) individuals eliminated.
  • Tanks: 6,476 (+11) units.
  • APV (Armored personnel vehicles): 12,145 (+16) units.
  • Artillery systems: 9,669 (+28) units.
  • MLRS (Multiple launch rocket systems): 984 units.
  • Anti-aircraft warfare systems: 671 units.
  • Aircraft: 332 units.
  • Helicopters: 325 units.
  • UAV operational-tactical level: 7,413 (+5) units.
  • Cruise missiles: 1,896 (+1) units.
  • Warships/boats: 25 units.
  • Submarines: 1 unit.
  • Vehicles and fuel tankers: 12,734 (+18) units.
  • Special equipment: 1,533 (+5) units.

Frontline situation

In Ukraine, there have been 90 combat clashes on the front line over the past day. Defense forces continue to hold back the enemy on the Maryinka direction.

Meanwhile, according to a report by the Institute for the Study of War, it is suggested that the Russians may suffer significant losses if they decide to attack new Ukrainian positions head-on in open fields due to the large concentration of Ukrainian military personnel at these new positions.
