Over the past day, December 16, the Russians lost another 1,730 soldiers on the front lines. The Armed Forces of Ukraine also destroyed 33 artillery systems and more than 160 drones, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to December 16, 2025, are estimated to be:

Situation on the front

According to the General Staff, over the past day, December 16, there were 278 combat clashes on the front. The largest number of enemy attacks was recorded in the Pokrovsk direction, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled more than 80 Russian attacks.

Recently, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that Ukrainian units continue to hold the northern part of Pokrovsk. The battle for the city continues.

According to the latest information from the commander-in-chief, the Defense Forces are holding the defense of the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration, despite increased pressure from Russian troops.

The Ukrainian military is also actively organizing additional logistics routes to Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, and has received reinforcements.
