Russia's losses in Ukraine as of August 2: +1,500 troops and 1,788 drones

The latest report from Ukraine's Defense Ministry provides an updated tally of Russian battlefield losses since the invasion began, including personnel casualties and losses of tanks, aircraft and other military equipment.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 2, 2026, are estimated to be:
- Personnel - nearly 1,449,120 (+1,500)
- Tanks ‒ 12,230
- Armored fighting vehicles ‒ 25,070 (+10)
- Special equipment ‒ 4,486 (+2)
- Vehicles and fuel tanks ‒ 128,953 (+456)
- Unmanned ground vehicles ‒ 2,108 (+11)
- Artillery systems ‒ 47,196 (+69)
- MLRS ‒ 1,988 (+8)
- Air defense assets ‒ 1,529 (+2)
- Aircraft ‒ 439
- Helicopters ‒ 354

Frontline situation
Ukrainian forces carried out a series of strikes on key Russian military assets in occupied Crimea and southern Ukraine, targeting air defense systems, naval facilities, drone infrastructure, railway bridges and a Black Sea Fleet intelligence unit. The strikes included high-value targets such as a Pantsir-S1 system and a Sargan patrol boat, while also disrupting Russian military logistics and operations in the region.
Meanwhile, Russia launched a massive attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region on August 1, killing nine people and injuring 30, including four children. The strikes caused damage and fires across five districts of the capital, also damaging the Lithuanian Embassy.
