The latest daily battlefield update shows that Russian forces continued to take losses in both manpower and military hardware, underscoring the ongoing cost of the fighting.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 19, 2026, are estimated to be:

    Frontline situation

    Russian battlefield losses have exceeded monthly recruitment for two consecutive months, according to Ukraine's Defense Intelligence. Russian forces suffered about 39,000 casualties in June and at least 40,000 killed and wounded in July, while 36,000 and 39,000 new contract soldiers were recruited, respectively.

    Meanwhile, Ukraine's forces struck a Russian ammunition depot and six command posts in Donetsk, Belgorod and Zaporizhzhia regions.
