Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will travel to the United States this week to meet with his counterparts from the Group of 20 (G20) countries, Bloomberg reported.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Lavrov would lead the Russian delegation at the talks scheduled for October 30–31 in Atlanta.
She noted that Moscow would use the meeting to "promote Russian ideas, aimed at strengthening the foundations of a multipolar world."
Bloomberg notes that Lavrov, who is under international sanctions over Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, has become the latest Kremlin official to visit the United States amid renewed contacts between Washington and Moscow.
The report also notes that US President Donald Trump is preparing to host the G20 leaders' summit in Miami in December.
As previously reported, on October 28, Sergey Lavrov cynically claimed that Russia's war against Ukraine would continue and was even showing signs of escalation.
Earlier, Lavrov said there would be no ceasefire to allow Ukraine to hold a presidential election.
