Russia's Ministry of Finance has disclosed what the heads of the Russian and US finance ministries discussed on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Asheville, North Carolina, according to a statement from the Russian Finance Ministry.

The ministry stated that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and his Russian counterpart Anton Siluanov discussed Russian-American interaction in the financial sphere at the G20 summit, as well as cooperation within the G20 framework itself.

The Russian Finance Ministry did not reveal any more specific details of the negotiations.

Trump himself explained his decision to invite Russians to the summit in a conversation with journalists. When asked about the reasons for inviting Moscow's representatives, the US president stated that he considers the ability to find common ground a guarantee of success.

"We like getting along with everybody. Sure. One of the reasons that I'm so successful, I get along with everybody," Trump said.

According to US media, Bessent actually discussed President Donald Trump's peace plan for Ukraine with Siluanov during this meeting.

Russia's participation in the G20 summit itself became a separate topic of discussion. That same day, Russia joined a G20 meeting in the US for the first time since the start of the full-scale war - this sparked outrage among European representatives, who even refused to take a joint photo with the Russian minister, calling it "an alarming signal."
