Russia refuses to repair military ships in Crimea - Ukrainian Navy
Russia has definitively abandoned the idea of repairing its military ships at facilities in Crimea due to the fear of potential Ukrainian strikes, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing Dmytro Pletenchuk, Spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy.
"We have already demonstrated in practice that using repair bases for the Russian Black Sea Fleet is no longer possible. To repair ships, they must first be brought there, and now no one will be doing that," Pletenchuk said.
The Spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy also reminded that Ukraine had destroyed the small missile ship Cyclone in Sevastopol Bay, carried out two strikes on the submarine Rostov-on-Don, and also attacked the small missile ship Askold in Kerch.
"These examples show the Russians that using Crimea for ship repairs is simply not possible," Pletenchuk added.
Situation in Crimea
Russia occupied Crimea in 2014. Since then, Russian forces have turned the peninsula into a massive military base, surrounding it with air defense systems.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the Russian submarine Rostov-on-Don, causing it to sink in the occupied Sevastopol.
