Russia plans to mass-produce Piranha-5 FPV drone: Details
The Russian Federation plans to start serial production of Piranha-5 drones, which will allow it to fill the gap in drone supplies to training centers, citing Defense Express.
This month, Russian propaganda media claimed that the Piranha Design Bureau had developed a training-combat FPV drone, the Piranha-5, which the enemy could use not only at the front but also in training operators. As of today, serial production of the drones has begun.
According to Defense Express, the concept of the drone is clear, as a small drone will help close the supply gap for drones in training centers. The Russians, in particular, claim that the Piranha-5 is equipped with everything necessary to speed up processes and facilitate switching to other platforms during training.
Among the drone's characteristics:
- Diameter: 12 centimeters
- Maximum speed: up to 220 km/h
- Weight: 300 grams
According to the Russians, the drone is supposedly capable of lifting a payload of up to 1 kilogram and has sufficient onboard batteries for use in assaults within a radius of 1-3 kilometers.
"It's more like a 'pocket drone,' something akin to a cheap analog of the American Black Hornet nano-drones, but much larger and less technologically advanced," Defense Express explains.
RBC-Ukraine previously reported that Russia developed a drone called the Garpiya-3 this fall, conducting flight tests with the involvement of Chinese specialists.
