Several Russian cities have declared missile and drone alerts at the same time. A missile strike was reported at the VNIIR-PROGRESS plant in Cheboksary, and air defense systems were also active in Moscow, according to OSINT channels.
"Explosions rang out in Cheboksary and Kazan — air defense is active in both cities," OSINT channels reported.
The reports also said residents heard a series of impacts in various areas, preceded by missile alert sirens. Flashes were seen in the sky, and smoke was rising in one district.
OSINT channels reported a missile strike on the VNIIR-PROGRESS plant in Cheboksary. At the same time, explosions were also heard in Kazan — according to residents, more than five impacts have already occurred in the city and its suburbs.
Channels also reported that drone debris fell on a shopping mall in Cheboksary.
Danger to Moscow
Additionally, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin wrote about a drone attack on the Russian capital, which allegedly triggered air defense systems, and that emergency services were dealing with the aftermath of falling debris.
Channels also reported that residents of Tatarstan and Chuvashia heard explosions in the sky.
Due to the airborne threat, temporary restrictions were imposed at airports in Samara, Kazan, Nizhnekamsk, Penza, Ulyanovsk, Orenburg, Ufa, Tambov, Cheboksary, Orsk, Izhevsk, and Perm.
Note that VNIIR-PROGRESS in Cheboksary is a facility producing navigation equipment and components for cruise and ballistic missiles.
RBC-Ukraine reported in November that Ukraine's Defense Forces had struck this enterprise.
