Russia offered meetings with Trump and Erdoğan by end of summer - Ukraine's National Security Secretary

According to Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, the proposed meeting is to take place by the end of August. The leaders of Ukraine, Russia, the US, and Türkiye would participate.

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi, commenting on the proposal to Russia, stated that it is a standing offer and could be implemented at any time. For example, if Putin wants to meet tomorrow, Zelenskyy will be ready to hold such a meeting with him.

"Why do we emphasize the meeting - in Russia, there is only one person who makes the decisions. If important decisions need to be made, such as a ceasefire - that person must be present," Tykhyi explained.

Other meeting details

Ukraine also declared its readiness for a ceasefire, particularly the cessation of strikes on critical infrastructure. Russia is expected to stop targeting both critical and civilian infrastructure.

The parties discussed further stages of the prisoner exchange. The Russian side agreed to return individuals who have been in captivity for over three years, namely, the severely wounded, seriously ill, and young Ukrainians.

Third round of negotiations in Istanbul

On July 23, the Ukrainian delegation arrived in Istanbul and held its third meeting with representatives of Russia. The day before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved the composition of Ukraine’s delegation - it is headed by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov.

Before the meeting with the Russians, the Ukrainian representatives met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

According to RBC-Ukraine's sources, the negotiations between the delegations lasted no more than about one hour.
