Russia modernizes Shahed strike drones - ISW
The Russian army has upgraded its Shahed strike drones. The drones now fly faster and at higher altitudes, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
The ISW cites the words of a serviceman serving in a mobile air defense unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
He said the Russian Shahed drones were previously very slow, difficult to maneuver, and could only fly at low altitudes. However, the Russian troops have upgraded the drones' components over time to enable them to fly faster and higher.
In contrast, the serviceman noted that Ukrainian mobile fire groups have also improved their equipment and tactics and can effectively neutralize enemy strike UAVs.
Shahed attacks and frontline situation
On the evening of Tuesday, October 15, Russians launched Shahed-type drones toward Ukraine once again. Air raid alerts were issued in several regions. The drone attack is ongoing. Ukrainian air defense forces are operating in several areas.
Meanwhile, according to the ISW, the Russians have advanced in the Kursk region and slightly progressed in the Donetsk region.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is using North Korean soldiers to compensate for losses on the frontlines and to avoid announcing additional waves of mobilization in Russia.
