Russia may soon resume massive shelling of Ukraine - National Security and Defense Council
The Russian Federation may soon resume large-scale strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, potentially coinciding with the start of the heating season.
This information was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Lytvynenko during the opening of the Energy in Industry-2024 exhibition.
"With the onset of the heating season, we can expect massive Russian strikes on the energy sector," he said.
Lytvynenko added that during the full-scale war with the enemy, Ukraine’s energy sector has demonstrated the ability to implement innovative solutions, and the enemy’s plans to destroy Ukraine's economy are failing.
Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector
Since the beginning of this year, Russia has already carried out nine large-scale attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, leading to power shortages during peak consumption hours in the energy system.
This summer, under the strain of shelling and high temperatures, power outages for residential consumers resumed. However, by early autumn, the situation with power restrictions had stabilized.
At the same time, the Center for Countering Disinformation presented several potential scenarios for Ukraine’s electricity supply during the fall-winter period. In the "optimistic" scenario, electricity will be available for 12 hours a day.
