Russians are trying to restore the storm-damaged defense of the Crimean bridge. It was installed to counter attacks by Ukrainian maritime drones, according to Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk.

“They are trying to use every opportunity to restore these structures. Of course, in the Black Sea, the period of storms is quite long. The weather in the Kerch Strait is also quite stormy. In this sense, it makes its adjustments to the plans of the Russian occupiers, but they are taking maximum measures to protect this illegal structure,” he said.

According to him, there are currently no trends to reduce the activity of the Russians. Russian occupants have saturated the bridge with echeloned air defense systems to the maximum.

He also noted that since the ferries are currently out of service, the Russians are forced to supply fuel to their groups via the Crimean Bridge. However, because this route was previously damaged by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, they cannot load it heavily with railroad tanks.

Crimean Bridge

The Crimean Bridge is an illegal crossing built by Russia after the occupation of the peninsula in 2014. The bridge is 19 kilometers long and connects the peninsula with the Russian mainland.

Ukraine's Defense Forces have already struck the Kerch Bridge several times - on October 8, 2022, and July 17, 2023. But in 2024, The Guardian wrote that the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine was preparing a third strike on the Crimean Bridge.

Last September, it was reported that the Russian occupiers were building a mysterious structure on the Kerch Bridge.
