During the course of the Ukrainian Defense Forces' operation in the Kursk region, the Russian army has lost over 38,000 personnel, according to the evening address of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"During the Kursk operation, the enemy has already lost over 38,000 soldiers in this direction alone, with around 15,000 of them being irrecoverable losses," Zelenskyy said.

He noted that the Russian forces have deployed their strongest units to the Kursk region, including soldiers from North Korea.

"It is important that the occupiers cannot currently redirect all this strength to our other directions, particularly Donetsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, or Zaporizhzhia," the president emphasized.

Ukrainian Armed Forces operation in the Kursk region

Ukrainian defenders managed to breach the border and enter the Kursk region during the summer. Since then, they have continued to hold Russian territories under their control.

In an effort to push back Ukrainian forces, the Russian forces have even involved North Korean soldiers in the fighting, who are suffering massive losses.

Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia lost up to a battalion of North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region over two days.

Additionally, it was reported yesterday that the Defense Forces attacked Russian positions in several directions within the Kursk region.
