Russia launches overnight missile and drone attack, Odesa region bears the brunt

Russia attacked Ukraine with various types of missiles and more than 200 drones overnight on August 9. Odesa region was the main target of the attack, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Russians attacked Odesa region with ballistic, anti-ship and anti-radar missiles: Iskander-M/S-400, Oniks and Kh-31P missiles, launched from areas in occupied Crimea and the Black Sea.
In addition, the enemy launched 202 Shahed-type attack drones, including jet-powered ones, Gerbera drones, Parodiya decoy drones, and Banderaol loitering munitions at Ukraine. The drones were launched from Kursk, Millerovo, Orel and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as occupied Donetsk region and Hvardiiske in occupied Crimea.
According to preliminary data, as of 8:00 a.m., air defenses had shot down or suppressed 174 enemy drones, as well as five Banderaol loitering munitions in the north, south and east of the country.
Missile and attack drone strikes were recorded at 22 locations, while debris from downed targets fell at six locations. As a result of the countermeasures, several enemy missiles failed to reach their targets, and information about the locations where they fell is being clarified.
Attacks on Ukraine
It should be recalled that Russian forces launched a combined attack on Odesa overnight on August 9, using drones and ballistic missiles. The attack caused damage and left people injured.
In the morning, Russia also launched a missile strike on apartment buildings in Kharkiv. Many people were injured, and two people were killed. There were also reports of people trapped under the rubble.
