Russia launches overnight drone attack on Poltava region, damaging energy facility
During the night of January 16, the enemy attacked the Poltava region using UAVs. Drone debris damaged the energy infrastructure, the Poltava Regional Military Administration reports.
"During the night, the Poltava region was attacked by enemy UAVs. Air defense forces engaged the targets. Fortunately, there were no casualties. Drone debris damaged the energy infrastructure in the region," the Regional Military Administration stated.
As a result of the damage to the energy facility, the following are without power:
- 301 residential consumers;
- 22 business consumers.
- Specialists are currently working to restore the electricity supply.
Russian strikes
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has regularly conducted massive strikes on Ukraine, posing a serious threat to civilians. Last year, the enemy launched 13 large-scale attacks against the country's energy system, leading to both emergency and scheduled power outages.
For instance, on January 15, the Russians launched 117 aerial targets against Ukraine. Air defense forces managed to destroy 77 of them. The attack caused emergency power outages in several regions, which were later lifted.
