Russia launches over 170 Shahed UAVs from six directions overnight at Ukraine: Air defense works

On the night of Wednesday, February 26, the Russian army launched 177 Shahed strike drones at Ukrainian territory. Air defense units operated in 10 regions, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
According to the Air Force, on the night of February 26, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. Kyiv time on February 25, the enemy attacked Ukraine with 177 Shahed strike UAVs and imitator drones.
Russian forces launched the air targets from the following directions:
- Oryol
- Bryansk
- Kursk
- Millerovo
- Shatalovo
- Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
The aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled the Russian air attack.
As of 9:00 a.m. Kyiv time, the destruction of 110 Shahed strike drones and other types of UAVs had been confirmed in the Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Furthermore, 66 enemy imitator drones were lost locally without negative consequences. As a result of the enemy's attack, the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad, and Sumy regions were affected.
Night drone attack
The evening before, Russian troops launched strike drones at Ukraine, and an air raid alarm was issued in several regions due to the threat of Shahed drones.
There were reports of air defense operations in several districts of Kyiv due to enemy kamikaze drones. Shahed UAVs were also shot down in the Kyiv region. Later, it was revealed that in the Bucha district, a Russian strike drone hit a residential building, causing a fire. Reports indicated that a 19-year-old girl was injured in the attack in the same district.
In addition, Russian strike drones attacked Kharkiv, with strikes recorded in two districts of the city. One of the kamikaze drones hit a multi-story building, and two casualties have already been reported.
