Russia launches nearly 150 drones on Ukraine overnight, air defense responds

On the night of September 22, Russia launched nearly 150 drones and guided aerial bombs against Ukraine. Defense Forces managed to shoot down 132 enemy UAVs, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
According to the Air Force, Russia attacked Ukraine overnight with 141 strike drones, including Shaheds, Gerans, and other types.
The enemy launched UAVs from the following directions: Kursk, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), and Chauda (occupied Crimea). Nearly 80 of the drones were Shaheds.
“Aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and drone teams, along with mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, carried out the air defense operations,” the Air Force stated.
As of the morning of September 22, air defense forces shot down or disabled 132 enemy drones of various types across the north, south, east, and central regions of Ukraine.
Nine strike drones managed to hit seven locations, while debris from downed drones was recorded at eight other sites.
Ukraine’s Air Force also reported that between 4:00 and 6:00 a.m. local time, Russia carried out an airstrike on infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia.
“Launches of guided aerial bombs from enemy tactical aircraft were recorded from the Tokmak area in the occupied Zaporizhzhia region. Unfortunately, there are civilian casualties,” the Air Force added.

Russian attacks on September 22
Overnight, Russia also launched a massive drone strike on the Kyiv region, causing fires in four districts.
Sumy and Zaporizhzhia regions also came under attack. In the morning, Russian aircraft dropped bombs on Zaporizhzhia, killing at least three people.
In Sumy, enemy drones struck industrial facilities and an educational institution.
One person, a security guard at a targeted enterprise, was injured and is receiving medical care.
