Russia launches massive drone and missile attack on Ukraine, but 90% shot down

On the night of June 21, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with hundreds of attack drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. Air defense forces destroyed most of the enemy targets, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The enemy attacked the territory of Ukraine with 280 air attack aircraft:
- 272 attack UAVs of the Shahed type and imitator drones of various types from the directions of: Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Shatalovo - Russia; Chauda - TOT of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
- 2 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air missiles from the airspace of the Tambov region of Russia;
- 4 Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea;
- 2 Iskander-K cruise missiles from the Belgorod region of Russia.
According to the Air Force, the main target of the attack was the city of Kremenchuk in the Poltava region.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare, and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, the air defense neutralized 260 enemy air attack vehicles, 145 were shot down by firepower, and 115 were lost locally.
Among them:
- 140 enemy UAVs of Shahed type (other types of drones) were shot down by fire, 112 were locally lost/suppressed by electronic warfare;
- 3 Iskander-K cruise missiles (1 locally lost);
- 1 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile (1 lost);
- 1 Kalibr cruise missile (1 lost).
The enemy's air attack aircraft hit Kremenchuk, Poltava region, and the downed wreckage fell in 3 locations.
Night attack on June 21
On the night of June 21, Russians attacked the northern, central, and southern regions with drones and missiles.
The enemy directed the main attack at Kremenchuk, Poltava region. The Russian troops hit the energy infrastructure and open areas of the region.
According to Volodymyr Kohut, head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, most of the missiles were shot down by air defense forces, but several hits still caused damage. The State Emergency Service units are working at the scene to eliminate the consequences of the shelling.
One person sustained moderate injuries as a result of the attack. Kremenchuk mayor Vitalii Maletskyi added that residential areas were damaged - high-rise buildings and private houses were damaged, windows were smashed, and cars were destroyed.
