On the night of 20 August, Russia attacked Kyiv with drones, and in the morning with cruise missiles such as Iskander-K. Ukrainian Air Defense Forces destroyed all targets, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Russian missiles and drones were shot down on the outskirts of the capital, the military administration says.

There were no damages or casualties.

This was the 41st Russian air raid and fifth missile attack on Kyiv since the beginning of August.

On the night of August 20, Russia attacked Ukraine with Shaheds. There were also reports of a ballistic missile threat. Explosions were heard in the Khmelnytskyi region.

Russian shelling of Ukraine

Since February 2022, Russia has been periodically shelling the territory of Ukraine, using attack drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. Border settlements have been hit by guided aerial bombs and artillery.

To effectively combat these threats, Ukraine needs more modern air defense systems, as well as permission from its Western partners to use the weapons it receives from them on Russian territory to engage air and sea-based missile carriers. Such permission has not yet been granted, allowing Russia to continue killing Ukrainian civilians and destroying civilian infrastructure virtually unimpeded.
