Russia launches 80 drones at Ukraine overnight from multiple directions: Air defense works
On the night of January 14, Russia launched 80 Shahed-type attack drones at Ukraine. The UAVs entered Ukrainian airspace from four different directions, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
According to the Air Force, on the night of January 14, starting from 6:30 p.m. Kyiv time on January 13, the enemy attacked with 80 strike drones and decoy UAVs of various types from the directions of Millerovo, Oryol, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
The aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defense Forces of Ukraine countered the aerial assault.
As of 09:00 a.m. Kyiv time on January 14, the confirmed downing of 58 Shahed-type attack drones and other UAVs was reported in the Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Kherson regions.
The downed enemy drones caused damage in the Sumy, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, and Cherkasy regions. Private and multi-story residential buildings, cars, and citizens' property were damaged. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties, and assistance is being provided to those affected.
In addition, 21 Russian decoy drones were lost locally without any negative consequences.
Yesterday, air raid alerts were sounded in Kyiv and several other regions of Ukraine due to the threat of a ballistic missile strike. The Air Force warned about a high-speed target passing through the Sumy region.
Furthermore, explosions were heard yesterday evening in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, where air defense systems were engaged in countering enemy drones.
As previously reported, on the night of January 13, Russian forces launched 110 Shahed-type UAVs and decoy drones at Ukraine. The air defense forces destroyed 78 of them, while 31 were lost locally.
