Russia launches 147 drones at Ukraine - Air defense responds

Russia attacked Ukraine with nearly 150 drones from five directions on the night of March 23. The military described the unique feature of this attack by the occupiers, according to the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"On the night of March 23, the enemy attacked with 147 Shahed strike UAVs and various types of drone imitators from different directions," the report says.
The Russian occupiers launched drones from five directions: Millerovo, Bryansk, Kursk, Primorsk-Akhtarsk, and Primorsk (temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region).
Air Defense response
The airstrike was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine.
"As of 8:30, 97 Shahed strike UAVs (and other types of drones) were confirmed downed in the south, north, west, and center of the country," the military reported.
In addition, 25 enemy drone imitators were lost in specific locations.
Consequences and specifics of the Russian attack on Ukraine
On the night of March 23, the occupiers used a higher number of strike UAVs (at least 122 units) and drone imitators, with 25 recorded.
As a result of the Russian attack, the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Odesa, and Donetsk regions were affected.
In particular, the Russians attacked Kyiv with drones. There were damages in several areas. Due to the strike on Kyiv, three people, including a child, were killed, and eight others were injured.
Additionally, on the night of March 23, Russian forces attacked Kyiv region with drones. Several buildings were damaged, and casualties were reported.
