Russia launched drones and over 50 missiles at Ukraine on January 8
Russian terrorists launched a nighttime and early morning attack on Ukraine on January 8 using Shahed kamikaze drones and over 50 various types of missiles. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, 26 enemy targets were successfully destroyed by air defense forces.
Russians conducted a massive attack on Ukraine, deploying cruise missiles, aviation, ballistic, anti-aircraft guided missiles, and UAVs. A total of 59 enemy aerial attack assets were recorded:
- 8 Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs launched from the Primorsko-Akhtarsk region in Russia.
- 7 guided anti-aircraft missiles S-300/S-400 launched from the Belgorod region.
- 4 aeroballistic Kinzhal missiles Kh-47M2 launched from four MiG-31K aircraft (launch area - Ryazan and Tambov, Russia).
- 24 cruise missiles Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 launched from 11 Tu-95MS strategic bombers (launch areas - Engels, Russia).
- 8 Kh-22 cruise missiles launched from Tu-22M3 bombers in the Belgorod region.
- 6 Iskander-M ballistic missiles launched from the areas of Dzhankoi and Chauda in Crimea.
- 2 guided aviation missiles Kh-31P launched from tactical aviation aircraft (launch area - Belgorod region).
The attackers targeted critical infrastructure, industrial, civilian, and military objects. This time, the enemy attacked various regions of Ukraine, with ballistic trajectory missiles directed towards the Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Khmelnytskyi regions.
As a result of the air defense forces' efforts, the following were destroyed:
- 8 Shahed-136/131 strike UAVs.
- 18 cruise missiles Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55.
Russian attack on Ukraine
On the morning of January 8, Ukraine declared an air alarm, and the Air Force reported the takeoff of MiG-31K aircraft. Explosions were reported in Dnipro, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia, with air defense systems operating in Khmelnytskyi. Kryvyi Rih experienced an intense missile attack. Besides, on the night of January 8, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 8 kamikaze drones, all of which were successfully intercepted by air defense systems, including 7 in the sky above the Odesa region.
