Russia intensifies shelling and subversive actions in Kherson region, tries to advance
Russian occupants have intensified shelling of the Kherson region and subversive reconnaissance groups are trying to gain a foothold in the territory controlled by the Ukrainian Defense Forces, says Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration.
“We are witnessing an increase in Russians' activity. The Russians have intensified maneuvers with manpower and equipment. They have increased firepower from all kinds of weapons, especially through the bombing of some roads and some settlements with guided aerial bombs,” he said.
According to Prokudin, the places where the enemy's landing groups can be landed are known, and the Ukrainian Defense Forces are ready to destroy Russian invaders.
The head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration emphasized that Russia's attempts to advance are not isolated. So far, such Russian manipulations have been unsuccessful.
“There are facts when they advance and try to gain a foothold on the islands or the right bank. So far, not a single attempt has been successful, they have all been destroyed. But they have such a task. They are tasked by the command to capture at least a part of the right-bank Kherson region and gain a foothold there,” Prokudin added.
Situation in Kherson region
Part of the Kherson region has been under Russian occupation since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The right-bank part of the region, including Kherson, was liberated by Ukrainian troops in the fall of 2022.
This month, the Kherson region reported an increase in Russian shelling.
It was also reported that Russian subversive reconnaissance groups attempted to advance toward Kherson and were eliminated. According to the Ukrainian military, the Russians want to gain a foothold in the right-bank part of the Kherson region, so they try to land on the islands in the Dnipro Delta every day.
