The occupiers have intensified movement through Mariupol. This concerns columns of fuel trucks likely intended to create reserves along the front line from Polohy to Orikhiv, according to Mariupol Mayor’s advisor, Petro Andriushchenko.

"The only large-scale movement involves fuel tankers. Columns of 15 tanker trucks are passing several times a day toward Berdyansk and further to Prymorsk. Given the absence of active fighting, it can be assumed they are creating a reserve in preparation for action along the line from Polohy to Orikhiv," he said.

Andriushchenko reminded that over the past week, the Russians have been moving newly formed manpower to the area, even without tactical markings on their trucks.

"There is growing concern that things could heat up in the Orikhiv and Huliaipole regions," the mayor's advisor added.

Situation in Mariupol

Russian forces occupied the city of Mariupol in the Donetsk region during the large-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Since then, the Russians have turned Mariupol into a major hub for concentrating and redeploying reserves, including both equipment and manpower to the front, particularly in the Zaporizhzhia direction.

At the same time, Ukrainian defense forces have been consistently striking military targets in Mariupol. As a result, the occupiers have been moving military equipment to so-called "safe locations" within the city. The same applies to personnel.

Additionally, the invaders have established a new base with a large ammunition depot in the Mariupol area, created after explosions occurred in the city and surrounding areas on September 11.
