The Russian army attacked Kharkiv with drones carrying thermobaric charges during the night of May 3. This is an especially dangerous weapon that causes extensive destruction and casualties, according to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office on Telegram.

"Additionally, it has been established that during the attack, the Russian army used strike drones equipped with thermobaric warheads," the Prosecutor’s Office stated.

According to law enforcement officials, such weapons generate a powerful blast wave and a high-temperature cloud, causing large-scale destruction and numerous civilian casualties.

"Its use is particularly dangerous and may indicate a deliberate violation of international humanitarian law," the statement said.

Massive strike on Kharkiv

Late in the evening of May 2, Russian forces launched a drone attack on Kharkiv. According to preliminary information, the invaders used at least 15 drones. It is believed that Geran-2 type drones were involved.

Four districts of Kharkiv came under attack, sparking multiple fires in the city. As a result of the strike, apartment buildings, private homes, educational institutions, vehicles, businesses, and shops were damaged.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, as of the morning of May 3, the number of injured had risen to 51, including two girls aged 11 and 16.
