Russia fails to recruit 10,000 Ukrainians from occupied territories by 2024
Russian forces failed to recruit the planned number of Ukrainians into their army for 2024. The enemy's recruitment campaign in the occupied territories has failed, reports the National Resistance Center of Ukraine (NRC).
According to the NRC, Russian forces aimed to recruit 10,000 Ukrainians from temporarily occupied territories by the end of 2024. However, these plans were thwarted due to local resistance to fighting against their own country. Even an increase in the one-time payment from 200,000 to 400,000 Russian rubles ($1,980 to $3,960) could not help this process.
As of early December, Russian forces managed to recruit only 4,000 Ukrainians. The vast majority of them live in territories Russia has occupied since 2014.
"Such low figures have led to inspections in the occupation administrations, which resulted in the Kremlin announcing personnel decisions," the NRC stated.
At the end of the publication, the National Resistance Center called on people to report anyone involved in recruiting and mobilizing Ukrainians to fight against their own country.
As a reminder, in October, Russia was intensifying mobilization in the occupied territories of Ukraine. At that time, raids in public places and filtration measures at checkpoints were happening daily. The NRC also reported a new round of raids in Mariupol.
