Russia deploying new reserve units near Pokrovsk - Ukrainian forces report

To seize the Pokrovsk–Myrnohrad agglomeration, the Russians have recently deployed an operational reserve, an officer of the communications department of the Rapid Reaction Air Assault Corps, Serhii Lefter stated in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
Ukrainian units positioned in this sector of the front had already spoken about it at the end of November. For example, to reinforce its troops, the Russian military command decided to send the 76th Pskov Air Assault Division to the Pokrovsk area — it had been observed earlier in 2022 in the Kyiv region.
"Russians will keep bringing them in because they are being ground down. If taking Pokrovsk were easy, they would have done it already. But since they're stuck in urban combat, it's clear they lack manpower. This is their operational reserve, and they want to use it," Lefter noted.
Battles for Pokrovsk
As a reminder, the epicenter of fighting in the Donetsk region has long been the Pokrovsk axis. Russian forces are trying to encircle Pokrovsk from several directions and are moving additional troops there.
According to the Air Assault Forces, Russian troops are concentrated mainly in the southern part of Pokrovsk, with small groups scattered throughout the entire agglomeration. The enemy is assaulting Defense Forces positions around the clock and suffering heavy losses.
According to Colonel Vladyslav Seleznov, the Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia has amassed more than 140,000 troops along the Pokrovsk axis.
Recently, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that Ukrainian units continue to hold the northern part of Pokrovsk. The battle for the city continues.
Meanwhile, yesterday the military reported that the Defense Forces are conducting clearing operations of Russian troops in the urban areas of Pokrovsk.
