Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof suggests that Russia may need just two to three years to prepare for a new war. Schoof does not rule out the possibility that Russian aggression could be directed against Europe, NOS reports, citing the Dutch Prime Minister.

Dick Schoof made the statement during a media briefing ahead of the meeting of the leaders of the Joint Expeditionary Force initiative, which is set to take place on May 9 in Norway's capital.

The Dutch Prime Minister commented on reports of increased Russian military activity near the Finnish border, particularly the construction of new railways.

Schoof believes that Russia could build up its military presence along the Northern European border within two to three years in preparation for another war.

"In a few years, Russia may develop enough capability to potentially start another war, and this could easily happen on the European continent," said the Dutch Prime Minister.

At the same time, Schoof added that he does not want to frighten anyone and that "there is no guarantee that there will be an attack from Russia." However, the Prime Minister emphasized that Europe must take active measures to prevent aggression from Russia.

Risks of Russian war against NATO

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has previously warned that Russia will not stop if it wins in Ukraine. According to him, the next victims of the Kremlin could be the Baltic states or Poland.

Intelligence agencies from several European countries have also reported that Russia may be preparing for a new military conflict, which could involve confrontation with NATO.

Furthermore, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has suggested that Russia might launch another attack in approximately four to five years.
