At night, on July 3, the Lipetsk region in Russia came under a drone attack. Explosions were heard in the regional center and in the city of Yelets, where the Energia plant is located. It is the largest plant in Russia specializing in the production of chemical power sources, the Russian news resource ASTRA reports.

Local residents report that drones were moving in the direction of the Lipetsk-2 airfield and the Energia plant, which was allegedly hit.

Photos of the damaged plant building were published on social media - in the picture you can see broken windows and traces of the hit.

At the same time, the governor of the Lipetsk region confirmed that after the drone attack in Yelets "a fire broke out in the parking lot of one of the enterprises."

Meanwhile, there have been no official confirmations from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine so far.

Earlier, this same plant was already hit by drones on May 23. Energia is one of the largest enterprises in Russia producing chemical power sources. In particular, the plant manufactures batteries for control modules of aerial bombs, Iskander-M tactical missile systems, sea-launched cruise missiles, as well as special power supply systems.

Due to the war against Ukraine, the plant came under sanctions from the EU, the United States, Japan, and a number of other countries.

Explosions in Lipetsk region

Last night in Lipetsk an alert and a "yellow" level of air danger were declared due to the threat of UAV attacks. Soon, the level was raised to "red."

Later, powerful explosions sounded over the city and the region. Russian channels reported air defense operating against the drones.

On the night of May 23, explosions also took place in the Lipetsk region. The Energia plant came under drone attack. Ukraine's General Staff confirmed strikes on the enterprise.

The Center for Countering Disinformation stated that the important plant of the Russian military-industrial complex, Energia, suspended its work after the attack.
