Russia bolsters defenses around Kerch Bridge, satellite images revealed
Occupying forces continue constructing defensive structures near the Crimean Bridge. This is confirmed by new satellite images, according to the monitoring group Crimean Wind.
"Here's what the construction of defensive structures near the Kerch Bridge looks like. Along the northwestern section of the bridge near the Crimean peninsula, construction of a parallel bridge and defensive structures is visible," analysts report.
Additionally, construction is also underway on the southeastern part of the bridge structure near the Taman Peninsula.
“The Russians aim to protect the bridge from strikes by naval drones, UAVs, and missiles,” notes Crimean Wind.
Situation around the Crimean Bridge
The Crimean Bridge is an illegally constructed crossing after Russian forces temporarily occupied the Crimean peninsula in 2014. The bridge connects Crimea with mainland Russia.
Ukraine considers the Kerch Bridge a legitimate target for strikes. The Armed Forces have already struck the bridge twice—on October 8, 2022, and July 17, 2023. Russian occupiers now fear another attack, as previous reports suggested that Ukrainian intelligence is preparing a third strike on the Crimean Bridge.
This is why Russian forces are building defensive structures near the Kerch Bridge, hoping to protect it from further strikes by Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
