Russia attacks Ukraine with missiles and more than 70 drones overnight: Air defense works

On the night of April 17, Russian terrorists launched UAVs and missiles of various types to attack Ukraine. The drones attacked from three directions, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
During the attack, the enemy launched:
- two Iskander-M ballistic missiles from Russia's Rostov region;
- three S-300/400 anti-aircraft missiles from the temporarily occupied territories of the Luhansk region;
- 75 Shahed-type drones and decoy drones from the directions of the Russian cities of Kursk and Millerovo, as well as from temporarily occupied Chauda in Crimea.
The following Ukrainian Armed Forces were involved in repelling the attack:
- aviation;
- anti-aircraft missile units;
- electronic warfare units;
- mobile fire groups.
As of 10:00 a.m. Kyiv time, the downing of 25 Shahed drones was confirmed in the east, north, south, and center of the country. In addition, 30 decoy drones were lost locally without negative consequences.
As a result of the shelling, the following regions suffered:
- Donetsk;
- Kharkiv;
- Sumy;
- Dnipropetrovsk.
Russian shelling of Ukraine
Throughout the full-scale war, Russia has been carrying out daily attacks on the territory of Ukraine, using a wide arsenal of weaponry - from long-range missiles and bombs to artillery and strike drones.
Particularly frequently, the enemy uses Shahed-type drones, launching them nightly at various regions of the country in attempts to damage critical infrastructure, energy facilities, and civilian populations.
For example, on the night of April 16, Russian troops launched 97 Shahed UAVs and decoy drones from multiple directions.
