Russia attacks Ukraine with 101 drones and missiles as dozens of strikes get through

Russia launched four missiles and 101 attack drones against Ukraine overnight on August 6. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted most of the incoming targets, but dozens of strikes were still recorded, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
During the overnight attack, Russian forces launched:
- Two Onyx anti-ship missiles from occupied Crimea;
- Two Kh-31P anti-radiation missiles launched over the Black Sea;
- 101 attack drones, including mostly jet-powered Shahed drones, as well as Gerbera, Italmas, and Parodiya decoy drones launched from Russia's Kursk, Millerovo, and Oryol regions, as well as occupied Donetsk and occupied Crimea.
The air assault was repelled by Ukrainian aviation, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare forces, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups.
According to preliminary data as of 9:00 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses shot down or suppressed 66 enemy drones over northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine.
At the same time, 29 attack drones and one Onyx missile struck targets at 18 locations. Debris from intercepted targets fell at five additional sites. The remaining missiles failed to reach their intended targets, with information still being verified.
Russian attacks across Ukraine
Overnight on August 6, Russian forces also struck Sumy with guided aerial bombs, causing damage and injuring civilians.
On the evening of August 5, Russia attacked the Odesa region, damaging residential buildings and vehicles. At least one person was reported injured.
Earlier, Russian shelling also left a large number of residents without electricity in the Nikopol district of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
