Russia attacks Navalny's ally to intimidate opposition, Lithuanian intelligence
Russia staged an attack in Lithuania on Leonid Volkov, an ally of Alexei Navalny, to intimidate the opposition, states the head of Lithuania's security service, Darius Jauniskis.
According to him, Lithuania suspects Russian special services of organizing the attack on Volkov.
Jauniskis clarifies that the goal was to intimidate the opposition so that it would not act during the election in Russia, which starts this week.
Attack on Volkov
Yesterday, March 13, it became known that unknown assailants attacked Leonid Volkov in Vilnius. The attack took place near his house.
According to Volkov, the attacker hit him about 15 times with a hammer on the leg, fracturing his arm in the process.
The investigation into the attack on Volkov is being conducted by the anti-terrorism unit of the Lithuanian police, Aras. Several versions of the event are currently being considered.
Leonid Volkov previously oversaw Navalny's regional offices and election campaigns, but left Russia several years ago under pressure from the authorities.
