Russia attacked Kyiv: City Military Administration shared how air defense worked
Russian forces launched a drone attack on Kyiv early on December 1. Defense forces detected and neutralized nearly a dozen drones that posed a threat to the capital, states the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Serhii Popko.
"Last night, the Russian armed forces once again attacked Kyiv with unmanned aerial vehicles. The air raid alert in the city lasted for about an hour and a half," the statement reads.
Popko mentioned that air defense forces destroyed around a dozen drones, but the exact number and type of drones will be disclosed by the Ukrainian Air Force.
According to preliminary reports, the morning attack resulted in debris falling in the Holosiivskyi district of the city. One residential building had its windows damaged by the blast wave.
According to the operational report, as of 06:33 Kyiv time, there are no casualties. However, the information is continuously being updated and clarified.
At the end of the post, Serhii Popko emphasized that there is no longer an air raid alert in the capital, but hostile drones are still present in the region. He urged people to remain vigilant.
"Currently, there are no alerts in the capital. However, enemy drones have been detected in the Kyiv region. Therefore, the drones may change their course and pose a threat to Kyiv. Be cautious and follow air raid signals. Take care," he concluded.
In the morning, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that today’s fire in the Obolonskyi district was not related to a Russian attack. The fire broke out in several kiosks at a market, covering an area of 100 square meters. Emergency services were on the scene, and there were no casualties.
