Russian forces have already begun their spring-summer offensive campaign, meaning no additional escalation on the battlefield is currently expected, Viktor Trehubov, head of communications for the Joint Forces Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reports.

According to Trehubov, Russia is currently in the active phase of its spring offensive campaign.

“It is unlikely to intensify further because it is already intensified. The question is when they will exhaust themselves, replenish their forces again, and perhaps try to do something in the summer. Right now, however, they are not in a phase of accumulating resources but rather spending them,” Trehubov said.

He added that Russian forces continue to use very little armored equipment because it has proven ineffective.

“Any attempt to weld another layer of protection onto a tank and turn it into something resembling an anthill is still ineffective. It will simply require one more drone to destroy it. So at this point armored vehicles are barely being used, while motorcycles are used only in limited ways,” the spokesperson explained.

At the same time, Trehubov noted that the battlefield is now heavily saturated with drones of various types, and a large number of ground robotic systems are expected to appear soon.

According to him, warm and dry weather conditions are also contributing to increased drone activity against Russian forces.

Russia’s offensive plans

Recently, Zelenskyy stated that Russia is expected to launch another offensive already this summer.

Earlier, the Ukrainian president warned that despite massive losses, Russia’s political leadership is planning further offensives and preparing to expand mobilization efforts.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence said Russia plans to recruit at least 18,500 foreign nationals into its military this year. Priority is reportedly being given to citizens of Central Asian countries, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
