US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says that the next week will be crucial for ending the war in Ukraine, according to Clash Report.

“I think this is gonna be a very critical week. This week is gonna be a really important week in which we have to make a determination about whether this is an endeavor that we want to continue to be involved in, or if it's time to sort of focus on some other issues that are equally if not more important in some cases. But we want to see it happen,” the Secretary of State said.

He added that there are reasons for optimism, but at the same time, there are reasons to be realistic.

“We are close, but we're not close enough,” Rubio said.

Trump's meeting with Zelenskyy and a rebuke to Putin

Yesterday, US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy met at the funeral of Pope Francis in the Vatican. Before the ceremony, they held one-on-one talks.

On the same day, Trump made a post suggesting that Russian leader Vladimir Putin may not want to end the war in Ukraine, and therefore suggested that he should be treated differently, through “banking” or “secondary sanctions.”
