Rubio holds phone call with Lavrov - Key topics discussed

On Saturday, March 15, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a phone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. During the call, they discussed several topics, according to the US State Department's website.
In particular, the sides discussed the next steps following recent meetings in Saudi Arabia and agreed to continue efforts to restore communication between the US and Russia.
Additionally, Rubio informed Lavrov about the US operation against the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
"The Secretary informed Russia of US military deterrence operations against the Iran-backed Houthis and emphasized that continued Houthi attacks on US military and commercial shipping vessels in the Red Sea will not be tolerated," as the statement follows.
Yesterday, US President Donald Trump ordered an attack on militant positions in Yemen.
“Today, I have ordered the United States Military to launch decisive and powerful Military action against the Houthi terrorists in Yemen. They have waged an unrelenting campaign of piracy, violence, and terrorism against American, and other, ships, aircraft, and drones," Mr. Trump said in a message on Truth Social.
Additionally, these attacks serve as a strong signal to Iran, as Trump seeks to negotiate a nuclear deal with the country.
