Rubio assures Kallas that US concessions will not harm Ukraine's interests

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio assured that possible concessions from Washington would not violate Ukraine's red lines and would not be against the interests of Europe, according to the head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, reports Tagesschau.
Before the meeting of NATO foreign ministers, journalists asked Kallas whether Rubio had assured her that the United States would not make concessions that would be against Ukraine's interests and red lines. The EU foreign policy chief answered in the affirmative.
“It was emphasized that nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine, and of course, Ukraine and Europe have to agree on what is being discussed because it is all happening in Europe. So yes, he gave us assurances on that,” she said.
Kallas' statement came on the heels of a visit to Washington by a representative of the Russian president, Kirill Dmitriev. The head of the Russian private equity fund in the United States held a series of meetings, including with Steve Witkoff, the US President's special envoy for the Middle East and a participant in the negotiation process on Russia's war against Ukraine.
Bloomberg reported recently that Russian leader Vladimir Putin expects concessions from US President Donald Trump regarding the war in Ukraine.
A meeting of NATO foreign ministers is taking place at NATO headquarters in Brussels on April 3-4. This is the first face-to-face meeting of foreign ministers since Donald Trump returned to the White House.
