Rubio arrives in Türkiye ahead of possible Ukraine-Russia talks

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in Türkiye on Wednesday amid grim expectations for Russia-Ukraine talks, according to CNN.
US official Marco Rubio landed in the coastal city of Antalya on Wednesday, following his trip with US President Donald Trump to Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
The initial purpose of Rubio's visit - an informal NATO foreign ministers' meeting - has been overshadowed by the potential negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv in Istanbul, as well as Rubio's expected meeting with his Syrian counterpart.
Talks in Istanbul
It was initially expected that talks aimed at ending the war in Ukraine would be held at the highest level, between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin.
However, just a few hours ago, the Kremlin published the delegation list, which did not include Putin's name. The Russian delegation at the talks will be led by Vladimir Medinsky, who headed the Russian team during the first Istanbul talks in 2022.
Additionally, the media reported about an hour ago that US President Donald Trump will also not be attending the talks in Türkiye. Earlier, he had stated that he might be present if Putin attended.
Furthermore, Zelenskyy stated in his evening address that he is waiting to see who will represent Russia at the talks to determine the next steps.
