Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergey Andreev has left the country for nine days. This happened after the diplomat ignored a summons to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the missile flyover incident on March 24, says the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Radoslaw Sikorski.

According to the Polish Minister, "Ambassador Andreev has demonstrated his culture and professionalism. As far as I know, he has already left our territory."

The Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that the Russian diplomat was not expelled, and there was no request for his resignation.

A note regarding the incident of the Russian missile flying over Polish airspace during another round of attacks on Ukraine will be handed to the Russian authorities through alternative channels, according to the spokesperson of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pawel Wronski.

Furthermore, the Polish Foreign Ministry is now interested in whether the Russian ambassador is following the instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow and whether he is capable of properly representing Russia's interests in Warsaw, added Wronski.

Later, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that on Monday, the Russian Embassy notified via a technical note of Andreev's absence from March 26 to April 4. During this period, his duties are being carried out by a temporary charge d'affaires.

As an explanation for ignoring the summons to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andreev stated that he did not attend because he "decided that there was no point in raising this topic without evidence."

What preceded

On March 24, Russian occupiers once again launched a massive missile strike on Ukraine with 29 missiles launched from 14 Tu-95MS aircraft and 28 drones.

One of the missiles flew into Polish airspace over the Lublin Voivodeship. The country did not attempt to shoot down the missile, believing it would return to Ukrainian territory.

Following this, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the Russian Ambassador Sergey Andreev "on the carpet."

On March 25, it was reported that the Russian Ambassador Andreev did not come to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
