Rheinmetall to provide Ukraine with Skyranger drone defense systems this year

The German defense company Rheinmetall will strengthen its military support for Ukraine. This year, the company will supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine with Skyranger drone defense systems, this was stated by Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger, according to Rai News.
"We will be supplying our Skyranger systems this year," Papperger said.
He expects that the multi-million-euro contract will be signed on Wednesday, September 10, at the DSEI exhibition in London.
The Skyranger system is a mobile air-defense platform that can also be mounted on Leopard tanks, capable of protecting an area of 16 square kilometers.
"With these systems, we can guarantee areas completely free of drones," the company’s CEO noted.
According to him, the Bundeswehr is also interested in this technology, and he emphasized that "in the current situation, using Skyranger could provide decisive support to Ukraine."
The German defense company Rheinmetall held the Skyranger System Demonstration 2024 on September 18, 2024. During the event, a self-propelled anti-aircraft gun based on the Leopard 1 tank, equipped with the 35-millimeter Skyranger 35 system, was demonstrated.
At that time, it was reported that the company planned to order at least 10 units of such anti-aircraft systems for the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
