Ukraine's Defense Minister makes statement on mobilization: Will there be a new wave
Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksii Reznikov, mentioned during the press conference that the situation with the mobilization reserve of the Ukrainian army is not critical now.
"The mobilization plan approved by the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament - Ed.) has not yet been implemented. We don't need to announce a new mobilization to increase the number of troops, we still have the resources," he said.
At the same time, the minister added that he would not discuss raising the mobilization bar for the time being.
"I do not think that in the coming months, there will be a question of raising the mobilization bar," Reznikov added.
Mobilization in Ukraine
Mobilization in Ukraine was announced in Ukraine after the large-scale Russian invasion in February 2022. The Verkhovna Rada has repeatedly extended martial law and mobilization in Ukraine. Currently, they are in effect for the shortest time until November 15 this year.
Men between the ages of 18 and 60 are subject to mobilization. At the same time, individuals may receive a deferral from mobilization. It depends on their activities, family circumstances, and more.
Recently, the Ukrainian military appealed to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to increase mobilization.
In turn, National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said that an additional wave of conscription is possible in Ukraine and that no changes in mobilization should be expected.
