Resuming Russian gas sales to Europe is a dangerous and flawed idea that would bring back energy blackmail. Any concessions to Russia will only lead to new wars and crises, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said.

The head of Ukraine's Foreign Ministry stressed that after decades of pressure from Moscow, Europe has only just begun to achieve genuine energy independence.

For the Russian regime, energy has never been just a business — it has always been a weapon.

The minister recalled the lessons of the past, noting that allowing Russia to bypass Ukraine's gas transit system had previously led to devastating consequences.

"Allowing Russian pipelines to bypass Ukraine invited Putin to launch his full-scale invasion. Past mistakes must be neither forgotten nor repeated," Sybiha stressed.

The diplomat emphasized that Russia's war will not end through compromises, flattery, or business deals.

"It can end only through strength and by depriving Putin's regime of the resources to continue it," the minister added.

Ukraine opposed trilateral talks between the US, China, and Russia without Kyiv's participation. Such a format could fail to bring the war closer to an end and instead encourage Russia to take further action.

Against this backdrop, Ukraine is proposing its own vision for dialogue aimed at ending the hostilities.

Earlier, the foreign minister also called on Europe to completely close its borders to Russians by imposing an effective ban on Russian citizens entering the continent.
