Putin unlikely to negotiate no matter who wins US election - CNN
Russian leader Vladimir Putin is unlikely to come to the negotiating table. Even the US election is unlikely to affect this, reports CNN.
According to the newspaper, if elected, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris is expected to largely continue the policy of the current President Joe Biden's administration, which supported Ukraine.
Taking a radically different stance, Donald Trump suggested that he would stop supporting Kyiv's military efforts and said he could resolve the war “in one day.”
And the terms of the peace plan put forward by his vice presidential candidate, J.D. Vance, are strikingly similar to Putin's wish list.
CNN has noted that American politics is at a crossroads, but that this will not necessarily lead to a turning point in the peace talks.
This is because there is nothing to suggest that Russia is ready to come to the negotiating table, regardless of who is in the White House.
Earlier today, The Washington Post reported that US presidential candidate Donald Trump's plans to end the war in Ukraine may be unacceptable to Russia.
Moreover, it would be a very bad scenario for the Russian president himself.
