Putin trying to drag NATO into war, but Germany won't allow - Minister Baerbock
The Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is trying to drag NATO into a war, but Germany will not allow him, says Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock.
"Putin's goal was and is to destroy the existence of Ukraine as an independent, free country and drag NATO into a war," Baerbock said, noting that the German government will not allow this to happen.
The German Foreign Minister adds that the Kremlin leader is not open to arguments, calls for humanity, and does not want to engage in negotiations.
NATO preparing for escalation
Earlier, the German Bild published a scenario of military exercises in Germany, with the armed forces preparing for a Russian hybrid attack on NATO's eastern flank.
Bauer also stated that the alliance needed transformation, and the West must prepare for an era where anything can happen at any time, including the start of war.
French President Emmanuel Macron also warned of the risk of a Russian attack in the coming years, stating that European leaders need to be prepared for such a scenario.
Polish President Andrzej Duda also stated that Russia could soon restore its military potential and attack NATO countries as early as 2026.
