The head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, hinted at an inevitable ceasefire in the war against Ukraine, according to Russian media. Even though it is Russia that thwarts all attempts to implement one.

"It seems to me that this is inevitable, despite all the tragedy we are experiencing now... It's a matter of time," he said.

Ceasefire in Ukraine

On March 11, a meeting between Ukrainian and US delegations took place in Saudi Arabia. An agreement was reached there on a 30-day ceasefire, as well as the resumption of US military aid deliveries and intelligence sharing.

For its part, Russia refused to support the 30-day ceasefire unconditionally. The Kremlin put forward a number of demands, including access to the SWIFT system.

Ahead of Easter, on April 19, the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, announced a unilateral 30-hour ceasefire in Ukraine. However, it remained only on paper. The Russians continued attacking Ukrainian cities and civilians.

Also, at the end of April, Putin announced a temporary truce in the war on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in Russia. It is supposedly set to last from May 8 to 11.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected the ceasefire for May 9, insisting on a 30-day term. According to him, Ukraine is not responsible for any events that may occur in Russia on May 9. Kyiv does not recommend that leaders of other countries travel to Moscow.
