The President of the Russian Federation's Commissioner for International Cooperation, Kirill Dmitriev, stated that the Russian Federation could allegedly supply a small nuclear power plant for the SpaceX mission to Mars, Reuters reports.

"Russia can offer a small-sized nuclear power plant for a mission to Mars and other advanced technological capabilities," said Dmitriev.

According to him, Russia allegedly possesses a range of nuclear technologies that could be useful for Mars exploration.

This is the second statement by a Russian official in the past month regarding possible cooperation with Musk. Dmitriev also referred to Musk as a "great visionary" and emphasized the importance of partnership.

Interestingly, Musk recently stated that the Starship rocket will head to Mars at the end of next year. If the mission is successful, the first human landings could occur between 2029 and 2031.

Starship

Starship is a reusable launch vehicle and spacecraft developed by SpaceX for a variety of missions. It was stated that the production of Starship is a key stage in Musk's plans for a flight to Mars.

The goal of Starship is to create a transport vehicle capable of carrying both people and cargo into space. The spacecraft is designed to be reusable, which will significantly reduce the costs of space flights.

The main feature of Starship is its ability to perform vertical takeoff and landing. The spacecraft stands 50 meters tall and has a diameter of 9 meters.

During his presidential campaign, US President Donald Trump stated that the United States would fly to Mars.
